WaNee Released Time Christian Education

As We Know…

Our children are exposed to more today than in the past. Our small community is no longer so sheltered. Opportunities to cheat, lie, and steal are bombarding our children. General permissiveness, drugs and alcohol are more and more prevalent at younger and younger ages. WNRTCEA offers an opportunity for the students to voluntarily expose themselves to positive and healthy influences.
Released Time Bible Class is important: This may be the only way some students know of God’s love, grace and forgiveness.

What is Released Time Bible Class?

– Recognizes and reinforces the constitutionally protected right of parents to direct the religious upbringing of their children. Parents have the option of permitting their children to receive religious training as part of their general education.

– Allows public school students to experience 30 minutes a week in Biblical instruction.

– It’s nondenominational.

– Teaches God’s Word.

– Reinforces life skills that are taught within the schools, through Bible stories and Scripture passages.

– It’s legal according to Indiana State Law 20-8.1-322 which states in part: “When the parent of a child who is enrolled in a public school makes a written request, the principal may permit a child to attend a school for religious instruction which is conducted by a church or an organization for religious instruction and incorporated under the laws of Indiana.”

– It’s also Constitutional. In the 1952 decision of Zorach vs. Clauson, 343 US, Justice Douglas wrote in part: “When the state encourages religious instruction or cooperation with religious authorities by adjusting the schedule of public events to sectarian needs, it follows the best of our traditions. For in then respects the religious nature of our people and accommodates the public service to their spiritual needs.”

– It’s also an opportunity for the home, church and school to work together for the betterment of the students.

Why should we have Released Time Bible Classes?

– It provides an opportunity for students to hear God’s Word!

– It provides and opportunity to teach morals, values, character and reinforces life skills learned at school.

– It provides a time to demonstrate and share about God’s love and grace for each individual.

Students Speak:

“I’ve grown with God through this class, and I’ve learned more than I ever thought possible.”

“I have really never been interested in the Bible class up to now. I love this class!”

“I found Christ at the Released Time program this year.”

Parents Speak:

“My child go very interested in reading her Bible because of one of the stories in “Bible Class’. She wanted to know more of what the Bible had to say and was excited about looking it up.”

“As a child I attended Released Time Bible and now my son is attending the class. It’s neat to see something good going from generation to generation.”

Teachers Speak:

“I believe it helps our students respect themselves and other students in and outside the classroom…reinforces positive behavior too.”

“I feel the Bible program is a wonderful addition to our elementary curriculum. Values and morals are the basis for our society and without these no learning can take place.”

President George Washington stated in his farewell address of 1776…

Of all the dispositions and habits that lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. Morality cannot be maintained without religion. National morality cannot prevail in exclusion of religious principle.

Wa-Nee Released Time Bible Registration

Parents and Guardians,
Again this year, Wa-Nee Released Time Christian Education Association will be offering Bible classes for students in grades 1-5 at all Wa-Nee Elementary Schools. At this point in time, we are unsure of the exact start date for the classes but we are working diligently with school administrators to finalize the bible release schedule for the 2021-2022 school year.

The Bible program has been a part of our school system for generations. It is sponsored by churches and businesses in the Wa-Nee School District. The program is designed to give every student an opportunity to receive a Bible oriented, non-denominational learning experience.

Students will be released for 30 minutes one day a week. Each class schedule is set up so it does not interfere with any other school activities. Each class will be transported by bus to a local church where classes will be held. During this time the students will listen to Bible stories, experience object lessons, sing songs, hear and learn Bible verses, and will be invited to pray. We will follow all of necessary procedures and guidelines set forth by the Wa-Nee School Corporation to protect against Covid-19 and to keep your student as safe as possible.

The classes are provided at no cost to your family. To register your child, simply fill out and sign the form. Classes will start in late September.
